Artistic Statement

I’m driven by the belief that theatre is a catalyst for transformation- personal, communal, and imaginative. My work lives at the intersection of play, rigor, and deep human curiosity. I approach every project with the fundamental question: What story needs to be activated in the room, and how can we invite audiences to feel it, not just witness it?

I gravitate toward pieces that balance bold theatricality with emotional truth. Whether developing new work, reimagining familiar titles, or guiding young artists toward their fullest expression, my goal is to cultivate spaces where humor, heart, and heightened storytelling coexist. I often use comedy and heightened physicality as pathways into more vulnerable terrain, allowing audiences to laugh their way toward unexpected resonance.

I am committed to inclusive, intentionally built ensembles—processes shaped by collaboration, care, and the voices in the room. Much of my directing practice centers on empowering artists to trust their impulses, excavate specificity, and take creative risks that lead to discovery. I believe that artistry grows when people feel seen, supported, and challenged in equal measure.

My work is also fueled by a love of theatrical design and visual storytelling. I’m drawn to bold stage pictures, rhythmic staging, and worlds where imagination becomes tangible—whether through movement vocabulary, musical structure, or compositional clarity. I strive to craft experiences that invite audiences to feel held inside a world, even if only for a moment, and leave with something that stays with them long after the curtain falls.

At the core, directing for me is about connection: nurturing it in the rehearsal room, building it between artists, and ultimately offering it to an audience. Theatre remains one of the few places where strangers gather to feel collectively. My mission is to create work that honors that rare opportunity—work that resonates, surprises, and reminds us of our shared humanity.
